welcome to 2018!
This is a taste of my weekly newsletter, which can land in your inbox every Tuesday at 9am! Click here to subscribe.
2018 is already off to a memorable start for many of us. A New Year isn't automatically going to make life better, but it does allow for an opportunity to reflect on how you can improve your overall life, habits, and wellness. All that, and let's be honest, who doesn't love a pause.
Over the last week, I've done a deep dive into planning 2018 both professionally and personally. I worked with my team and advisors to crack into exactly how I want to feel this year, and started uncovering who I want to become this year.
2018, for me, is truly a blank canvas. I am starting anew with my health, overall wellness, with my spiritual practices, with my company, and for Mitch and I, this is the year we get married and become a family.
This year will be defined by two words for me: alignment and consistency. By putting in place the habits and practices I know will help elevate my life, and through doing them consistently, I know I will come through 2018 even more deeply connected to my self, and my love for those around me.
That is true success. When these parts of my life are cared for, my career, impact, and all those other metrics we have been conditioned to measure ourselves by, will naturally come into order.
This is a radical departure from how I used to live -- constantly running and trying to prove myself to the world. That way of 'being' served me to a point, and now that I've recovered from being unwell, I am looking for a new way of being, and 2018 will be that personal experiment.
I'm so excited to have you join me for the ride.
Make sure to check out this week's video where I reflect on the Golden Globes (I filmed it before Oprah's speech, so forgive my lack of coverage of her amazingness!), and where I share how I intentionally planned for 2018, and the practices and tools I used to do so. Also, don't miss out on our recommendation for the week -- our incredible friend and designer Renira's art is up for sale on her website. Don't miss it, it's stunning!
Signing off with love, until next Tuesday at 9 am,

Oprah's Golden Globes speech, because what ELSE would we be watching?! (But also her backstage press conference was just as good.)
"Do the work that comes straight from the soul of you, from your background, from stories that you've grown up with, stories that bring you passion, from stories that you not just yearn to tell but that if you don't tell them they won't get told."
We're also watching this fantastic video about my parents, who led the incredible Sikh community's fundraising of $200,000 for a new trauma room in Grande Prairie. They're always my #1 inspiration!
- THIS IS NOT A DRILL. OPRAH IS CONSIDERING A PRESIDENTIAL RUN.
- Vox's thoughtful interview on how to cover red carpet fashion in the era of Me Too.
- On that note, interviewers on the red carpet totally dropped the ball when it came to engaging Hollywood's men on Me Too. While women gave thoughtful quotes on the changing tides, men generally weren't pressed beyond their next big acting gig.
- Onto a completely different topic --- Richard Branson's tips for being happy in 2018.
