Dream, Girl is yours to watch!
Creating this film was a life-changing experience for me, and from what I've heard time and again, watching the film has been deeply transformative for so many of you around the world.
I remember so vividly the night Erin's Kickstarter campaign to create the film landed in my inbox in 2014. When I watched the trailer, my heart started beating faster and faster -- I knew I had to help bring the mission of the film and the Dream, Girlmovement to life.
I emailed her immediately, and the rest is history.
Since our premiere in 2016, the film has been championed by Oprah, the Obama White House and tens of thousands of people around the world. And now it's yours. I hope you watch it, love it, and that it inspires you to pursue your wildest dreams.
I was so deeply reminded of the impact of what we created when I received this message on Friday after our screening at Ridgemont High School. It's from a young woman who just wrapped her first year of university:
I just saw you today at the screening at Ridgemont High School. Despite being completely inspired by the movie and the twenty thousand thoughts running through my mind, I was too shy to go and meet you.
I’m about to turn 19 and I’ve just finished my first year of taking Conflict Studies and Human Rights. I love university and studying and making memories... but I’m constantly confused about my path in life. Like most days I don’t feel I have enough passion for one thing in particular.
I’ve recently gotten involved in Indigo Girls a program for girls by girls and we are helping start up a branch in Ottawa. The focus is on creating safe spaces for girls by providing local workshops and clubs. I’m one of the club leaders and this summer we’re trying to introduce our clubs to the community and finding spaces to hold them.
I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed and unsure of myself as I’m in a completely new environment. However your story and Dream, Girl has just literally lead me to a ton of lightbulb ideas when I’ve been feeling down for the past couple of weeks.
Thank you so much for sharing and honestly, this inspiration and new perspective on female empowerment and resilience was so refreshing. I’m so glad to have people of colour from my city who go out and achieve their dreams because I now have a new role model to look up to .
Guys, this is why I made this movie. To enable the light in others to shine even brighter. I hope it makes you feel the same way. Without further adieu, here it is...
"The film every little girl (and grown-up girl, too) should see. It may just change how she dreams."
